CARNOUSTIE COMMUNITY BENEFITS PROGRAM

Friday 21st April 2023, Carnoustie Scotland:

April 2023 sees Carnoustie Golf Links re-open applications for its Community Benefits Programme, after a highly anticipated re-launch of the charitable programme in 2022. The Links – who are a registered charity – were delighted to bring back the opportunity for local good causes and community groups to apply for access to funding.

Michael Wells, Chief Executive of Carnoustie Golf Links said “The opening of applications for our Community Benefits awards is always a great time at the Links. It gives us a chance to reminisce on the fantastic groups and organisations that we’ve supported since 2014, and look forward to the exciting applications that will undoubtedly come in. This programme is very special to us all here at Carnoustie Golf Links and something that our whole team get behind to support.”

Carnoustie Golf Links Community Benefits Programme was originally launched in 2014 and has donated over £270,000 of cash into the local area during that time. Furthermore, as part of Carnoustie’s commitment to giving back to the community, it also provides tens of thousands of pounds worth of value in kind. The Links provide free coaching to almost 400 children every week, including their advanced and high-performance junior golf programmes – helping those who show budding skills to reach their full potential in the game. They also run their Girls.Lead.Golf Leadership Academy, designed to empower and equip girls with skills for life and work through the sport of golf. Furthermore, Carnoustie’s greenkeeping team provide time, equipment and expertise to local community projects and schools throughout the year and the Links have proudly donated to a number of town projects in the past, including contributing to the festive celebrations by providing the town Christmas Tree.

Additionally, the Links provide free of charge equipment and access to their family putting green – complete with brand-new Putting Pool games – and The Nestie, a 5-hole development course which is ideal for children and adults who are starting their journey into the game of golf.

David Cheape said “As Convenor of the Carnoustie Golf Links Community Benefits Committee, it gives me great pleasure to announce the launch of this year’s Community Benefits Programme and to encourage local community groups, clubs and organisations to apply for financial support towards their projects. We look forward to receiving applications via our website and reading about the exciting plans each group have that will benefit the community within the Carnoustie and District electoral ward.”

The Carnoustie Golf Links Community Benefits Committee seek applications from local groups and organisations who are looking for assisted funding towards community projects. Applications should be submitted by Friday 30th June 2023. Applicants will be notified of the outcome after 19th September 2023 and successful applicants will be invited to attend a presentation at Links House in October 2023 to receive their awards. Please note, applications for funding to support 2023 Christmas events should also be submitted in the 2023 Summer funding round, by 30th June 2023.
