Pearl Valley Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course at Val de Vie Estate.

To the north of the city of Cape Town and just outside Paarl in the Cape winelands sits Val de Vie Estate which is home to another Jack Nicklaus signature masterpiece – Pearl Valley.

Pearl Valley is ranked at number 5 on the most recent ‘best of’ golf course listings, added to which the club has the unusual distinction of its having been selected as the

best conditioned course in the Western Cape for 9 consecutive years.

The championship course’s pedigree is well documented as it has been ranked amongst the top ten courses in South Africa by Golf Digest Magazine since 2006 and achieved a top five ranking in 2018/2019 and in 2017 the course received its Audubon Certification.

In 2003 when the Golden Bear himself opened the course, he commented, “surrounded by mountains, this is one of the most spectacular settings in which I have designed a golf course.”

The Pearl Valley Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course is a central part of Val de Vie Estate, which is a 1000-hectare luxury residential and wellness estate.

On the estate there are three restaurants – the Polo Club and Valley restaurants and Reuben’s & Co Café. The restaurants team up to provide a range of specials across the week that would tempt even the most unadventurous palate.

There is also the Fleet coffee roastery, a 250 year old wine cellar, polo fields, an equestrian centre and beautiful scenery for guests to explore, while adjacent to the golf course are the Pearl Valley clubhouse, golf shop, Camelot Spa and the Pearl Valley Hotel by Mantis..

Val de Vie Estate is located only a 35 minute drive from Cape Town International Airport and Cape Town itself, making the estate ideal for weekend getaways and to use as a base from which to explore the countryside of the beautiful Boland region.

An array of amenities can be found in close proximity to the course – Franschhoek’s renowned culinary offerings, the historic town of Paarl, one of the original Dutch farmhouses at Babylonstoren and a number of award-winning wine farms.
